He shoved the notice into his pocket, the crumpled paper scratching against his skin. The apartment seemed smaller, the walls closing in. He felt a rising pressure in his head, a dull ache that wouldn't subside. He didn't look back.

He forced himself to walk out onto the street, the sun a blinding glare against his eyes. The world seemed overly bright, everything too sharp. He felt a constant need to clench his jaw. He could not face the apartment again.

His breath was shallow and fast. He walked faster. He needed to be free. He needed to escape. He needed to move.
